Joya Lonsdale– Quarry Hill’s Daughter and Great Poet

Standard

Joya Lonsdale was born Aug 3, 1971, in Hanover, New Hampshire, to Isabella Fiske and WIlliam Lonsdale. The granddaughter of Irving Fiske and Barbara Hall Fiske, writer and artist, founded Quarry Hill Creative Center in Rochester, VT, where Joya grew up, attending the Center’s own alternative school, The North Hollow School. Joya became a poet, baggage handler, linguist, traveler to many parts of the world, Zumba dancer and teacher, and graduated from Boston University (she got her undergraduate degree from Antioch in Yellow Springs, Ohio) with a BS in psychology. She presently works in Boston as a psychotherapist, and on Aug. 31, 2013, will marry “Rupert Moonjumper, Jr.”– a mysterious troubadour of the streets. The two plan to marry in Warren, Vermont and live in Jamaica Plain, MA.

Quarry Hill loves and is proud of Joya Allegra Fiske Lonsdale, the beautiful, happy, swift and wise.

About quarryhillcreativecenterVT

I am the daughter of the founders of Quarry Hill Creative Center in Rochester, VT. I've been a writer all my life, and also love to draw in pastel, like my mother. My father taught me to write and many other things (rather as Prospero taught Miranda). I learned many things from my mother too-- not just how to draw, but how to be caring and kind to animals and things that can not protect themeselves. "They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain." That has been her central point of view and is one of Quarry Hill's mottos. We welcome visitors, love children, and have places to rent and sell if anyone wants to come live in the beauty of the Vermont Mountains. ladybellefiske@gmail.com
